The collection moves from Prohibition-era Lost Heaven to Empire Bay and then 1968 New Bordeaux. Each game follows a different protagonist, so the package offers three crime stories rather than one campaign divided into chapters.
Follow Tommy Angelo during Prohibition in Lost Heaven. A cab driver's chance encounter with the mob leads to work for Don Salieri in Lost Heaven. The first game's ground-up remake follows Tommy through the rewards and dangers of organized crime during Prohibition, establishing the collection's earliest era.
See Vito's postwar rise through Empire Bay. Vito returns from war and becomes involved with the mob while trying to repay his father's debts. Working alongside Joe takes him toward larger rewards and greater consequences in Empire Bay. This chapter supplies the collection's mid-century setting.
Pursue Lincoln Clay's revenge in 1968 New Bordeaux. Back from Vietnam, Lincoln loses his surrogate family to the Italian Mafia. His campaign turns military experience toward revenge in New Bordeaux, giving the third game a different protagonist and motive from the earlier stories of entering the mob.
