Essential is the direct tier when paid online multiplayer is the priority. It adds a Monthly Games collection and benefits for the subscribed account, while keeping the larger Extra catalog outside the package. For an account-access purchase, knowing which benefits can be shared is central to choosing correctly.
Join supported paid games online. Essential provides the membership requirement used by many paid PlayStation games for online matches and co-op. It does not buy the game itself or guarantee that a game's servers remain available. On an eligible sharing console, this is one of the benefits another profile can use.
Build a claimed library on the member account. Monthly Games differ from Extra's rotating Game Catalog. They must be claimed on the subscribed account while offered and need an active membership to remain playable through that entitlement. Downloaded Monthly Games can be shared on the eligible console, but another profile does not receive the original claim.
Keep cloud storage and store discounts distinct. Cloud saves and purchasing at member discounts belong to the subscribed account. They are useful when playing and saving through that account, but do not become your personal profile's benefits through Primary sharing. This distinction prevents confusing access to a game with ownership of every subscription feature.
