Searching for the Chaos Emeralds leaves Sonic stranded on the Starfall Islands. The remains of an ancient civilization connect the area's mysteries, while the open-zone structure gives exploration a larger role than a simple sequence of courses.
Explore five islands through platforming challenges and secrets. Race through distinct islands while finding secrets and side activities. Puzzles, large structures to scale and fishing provide changes of pace between high-speed runs. The open zones let you decide which nearby challenge to tackle next.
Unlock focused high-speed Cyber Space stages. Unlock Cyber Space levels for more concentrated 3D platforming at Sonic's usual speed. These stages give the broader adventure a contrasting rhythm: open exploration outside, then a specific course that asks you to execute its route well.
Use Cyloop, counters, dodges and skill upgrades against enemies. The battle system combines dodges, parries, counters and combos with the Cyloop ability. Skill-tree upgrades develop that toolkit as you face the islands' enemies. Combat becomes a separate system to learn alongside traversal.
