INSIDE STRANGER THAN HEAVEN
Five eras, two sides to Makoto's life
Makoto's journey links survival on the streets with a career on the stage. The game moves through a changing Japan, where finding performers and making music sit beside raw physical confrontations. Those parallel pursuits give its decades-spanning story more than one kind of ambition.
Independent hands in combat
Block with one side and counter with the other. The combat system lets you control Makoto's left and right sides independently. Combine jabs, heavier attacks and counters, then capitalize on a stagger with tackles or follow-up blows. Knives, hammers and katanas broaden the options, so reading an opponent's movement matters alongside the force of the attack.
Gather sounds, produce a show
Turn the city's noise into a performance. Street rumors help you scout singers and other performers. Collect sounds from daily life and encounters, combine them into tracks, then choose a setlist and arrange a band. Lighting, staging and casting make the production itself a playable part of Makoto's rise as a showman.
A changing Japan
Follow one life through five distinct cities. The story travels from industrial Kokura in 1915 to Kure, wartime Minami, postwar Atami and Shinjuku in 1965. Each place reflects a different era and social setting. Moving forward through Makoto's life changes the surrounding world, rather than keeping the adventure inside one unchanging city.
