Visage places you inside a house marked by the lives and deaths of its former residents. Its story emerges through rooms, objects and surreal changes, with a deliberately slow pace that gives small details room to become threatening.
Search the house and interpret its environmental details. Explore corridors, rooms and disorienting spaces while looking for objects you can use. The house reveals its history through environmental details rather than a constant stream of direct explanations. Paying attention is essential to understanding both the route and the story.
Avoid entities instead of relying on weapons to defeat them. The entities that haunt the house can follow and attack you, and weapons do not provide a way to defeat them. Search for useful items and interact with the surroundings while remaining vulnerable. This is horror built around exposure rather than combat power.
Use light to resist fear's effect on sanity. Dark entities are attracted to terror, making the character's mental state part of survival. Staying in light is one way to resist its deterioration. Repeated deaths and experimentation belong to the game's unconventional challenge, so patience matters more than fast shooting.
